Sometimes we are more concerned about using technology and using it correctly we forget that it’s really only a tool.
Ask yourself these questions and see if you answer Yes to any of them.
Have you called someone and heard them typing in the background? Did they seem more interested in doing other tasks, then talking with you?
Have you registered at a hotel or rented a car and the clerk ended the conversation with ‘you’re all set now’, but never heard a Thank You?
Have you been talking to someone who reached for his or her cellphone and answered it, while still in mid-conversation with you?
Have you been distributed during a movie or a quiet dinner by a ringing cellphone? By one with an annoying ring?
Have you thought someone was speaking to you only to find them on their cellphone?
Now for the most important question of all. Have you been guilty of one or more of these? If you were honest with yourself the answer would be yes to all of these questions.
It seems that old-fashioned courtesy is a thing of the past. But should it be? Don’t you feel better when you call a service provider and they ask ‘How can I help you?’ and end the call with ‘Thank You’.
Isn’t it time that you do the same?
